Weekend Plans?

What are you doing this weekend?   Will there be any shopping involved?  Will you break out of your department store shopping?  Why not for a change, check out what an antique shop has to offer.  You will discover and be amazed at what you just might find.

One of my favorite and yes hidden secrets happens to be  Acushnet River Antiques located in New Bedford, MA.  When people ask me where it is?   I say ” you know the big yellow billboard right off the highway that says Acushnet River Antiques- right there” I say. Easy access on and off the highway.   1800sq.ft of wonderful treasures waiting to be discovered.  I was able to catch up with the owners Carl and Dorreen Thatcher this past week.

Carl and Doreen have been the proprietors for the past 13 years of Acushnet River Antiques.  Currently they have over 100 dealers.  You can even find a little Chic Home & Antiques at location #73.

You can find anything from furniture and glassware to

art work, lighting, rugs and even toys!

You never know what you are going to find at Acushnet River.

One suggestion I do have is leave your wonderful children at home because they just might be bought and sold when they start to play hide and seek between antiques!   Another thought- I love shopping with my girlfriends so  leave the husbands home too!  Take a day for yourself you deserve it!  Let’s go shopping!

               Hope to see you there

About chichomeantiquesblog

A lover of unique antique furniture with history and character. I take great joy in discovering forgotten pieces. Pieces that most people would pass by. I have such a passion for discovering, refinishing and repurposing great furnishings. I shop consignment shops, thrift stores, craigslist and of course antique shops to find those special unique pieces. I paint, sand, antique, glaze whatever it may be to bring new life to old furnishings. My life is full of family, good health, happiness, careers, and a very happy well loved home. I have very much to be thankful for in this world that I live today.
